We are currently seeking a talented R&D Tax Associate to join our National Tax Office team in any of the following markets: Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Connecticut


R&D Tax Associate

Responsibilities: 

  • Researching, gathering data and analyzing R&D tax matters and financial reports. 
  • Managing multiple tasks and client needs. 
  • Preparing reports and other documents as required. 
  • Extensive writing and documentation gathering. 
  • Interfacing with clients and approaching client interactions with maturity and discretion. 
  • Participating in professional association meetings and forums. 
  • Demonstrating excellent team skills, positive attitude and high ethical standards.
  • Leading interviews with various Subject Matter Experts to understand and identify qualified activities to substantiate the R&D tax credit in accordance with IRC Sections 41 and 174.
  • Performing quantitative and qualitative research, including project write-ups, base period, department overviews, and methodology memos.
  • Analyzing complex client data utilizing MS Excel to compute Federal and State R&D tax credits.
  • Monitoring project financials including charge hours and engagement team member schedules.
  • Managing projects including scheduling, budgeting and client correspondence.
  • Assist with Audit representation including drafting IDR responses and working with the IRS to resolve client matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business Administration, Engineering/Technical Science or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel and work at office locations around the Firm and client locations.
  • Position requires approximately 20-25% domestic travel.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Desired Qualifications 

An accounting degree or equivalent is preferred, as is experience with professional sales and client service. The position also requires a strong understanding of federal and state taxes. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and is self-motivated and willing to travel when necessary. Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and discipline with regard to time management are a must.
